Youth Services

Today's youth are often at a loss as to how to manage their lives. They feel unsupported, overlooked and unimportant. And teens who are aging out of foster care need additional assistance to make the transition to adulthood and self-sufficiency. Lakeshore CAP also works closely with other community mentoring programs for this population. Lakeshore CAP can help open the door to a brighter future with programs such as:

  • Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
    • Based on the concept that every child has the right to a safe home free from abuse
    • Volunteers are appointed by a judge to be a voice for these children in court
  • Door County Juvenile Restitution (age 10-17)
    • Protecting the community from delinquency
    • Providing compensation to victims
    • Assisting youth with accountability and competency development
  • Manitowoc Youth Diversion Program -Teen Court (age 12-16)
    • First-time offenders are sentenced by a jury of their peers
    • Citizens see teens being accountable for their actions
    • GED/HSED  Program (age 18-1/2 +)
      • Complete high school by passing GED tests and other requirements
      • Or expand your education -- and salary -- with an HSED
